Yesterday was Rowan's four-month birthday! He now weighs 15.4 pounds and is 24.5 inches tall. This puts him in the 50th percentile for both. The pediatrician said he is nicely proportioned and I have to agree with her. :-)
Our crying-it-out experiment continues. Rowan has no problem falling asleep on his own the first time. The agony begins when he wakes up after a couple hours and can't (won't?) drift back to sleep on his own. Jeremy found him an awesome mobile that he hooked up last night. It matches his rainforest themed jumperoo and it plays a selection of Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, and rainforest sounds. It put him right to sleep last night. I don't know how it worked for getting him back to sleep, though.
Rowan was showing great interest in the banana that Jeremy was eating yesterday. He would open his mouth each time Jeremy took a bite. So, I picked up some rice cereal on my way home. The experts say that you shouldn't introduce solid foods until 6 months if you are breastfeeding. But, if the baby is showing interest I say why not. Last night I mixed a teaspoon of cereal with breastmilk; it was pretty watery. He ate all of it and would start fussing if I didn't move fast enough with the spoon. We haven't decided if he liked the cereal that much or if he liked gnawing on the spoon.
Life with Rowan just keeps getting better and better. I am excited to see what the coming month will bring.
