Happy 29th Mirthday, Rowan!

Total mommy fail. I am four days late in posting Rowan's mirthday email. Hold on, I think Raleigh is fretting... False alarm, but I had better start typing faster!

The Man has been up to all kinds of things this past month. For one, he's utterly fearless at the swimming pool. We went to the pool with our friends a couple of weeks ago and he just loved it. He even asked to go off the diving board! He likes to tell stories, too, especially if there is a little drama involved. Ask him about his bike accident and he can recount it accurately. He also likes to tell stories about how he mistreats his classmate, Brian. I don't care for those stories much. But, he's a pretty good story teller. He's got good timing. I'm interested to see how this develops over time.

Potty training is getting better. We've started using stickers as rewards and that's working good. He's doing pretty good at school, too. He was accident free all week!

We've got some fun things planned for the weekend. I'll try to give an update soon.

A blessing and a curse

Rowan can open regular door knobs now. He mastered the lever kind a little bit ago. There's no stopping him now!

Happy 3-month birthday, Raleigh!

Raleigh turned 3 months old today! Man, that time has just flown. Today was also her first day with her day care. She was there for only 2 hours today and will return tomorrow for another 2-hour session. Next week she will start her usual schedule of all day Tuesday and half-days on Wednesdays. She did great, by the way. I did okay, too. It was easier leaving her that it was with Rowan. I think because I know her care givers and that I know the world will continue to spin while we are apart.

Raleigh's been up to all kinds of cool baby things. Overall her disposition is very sweet and mellow. She gets worked up sometimes but is very easy to calm. She's been vocalizing a lot more and smiling. Her noises vary in pitch and inflection just like she's talking. It's really neat. She tries to mimic your facial movements, like opening your mouth and clicking your tongue.
  • Motor Skills: She's a pro at rolling over from back to tummy. Going the reverse direction is still a little more difficult but she can manage it. She has managed to prop herself up on her knees a couple of times while on her tummy. She seems determined to start crawling as soon as possible. Perhaps she is feeling left behind? She likes to grab on to things like my shirt or hair, her burp rag, and her shirt. She's also trying to suck on her finger or thumb. Mostly she gnaws on her fist.
  • Sleeping: She's doing really good with sleeping at night. Typically, she will go to sleep for the night around midnight. I have to wake her in the mornings around 7:00. It's been awesome! I hope she keeps it up.
  • Likes: Sitting up, rolling over, watching TV (Yes, we are terrible parents and let her look at the TV on occasion.)
  • Dislikes: Having her neck washed, not being able to roll over when she wants
I can't wait to see what she gets into over the next few weeks. This is such an exciting time! Happy Birthday to my sweet, sweet baby girl.
