Mini-break to Flowery Branch

If you've looked at the photo album, you've probably seen some photos of us at a hotel and at a lake. Those were taken on our mini-break to Flowery Branch this past weekend. Jeremy's kayak fishing club had a tournament at Lake Lanier on Saturday so we decided to go on a little family getaway to Hall County.

Rowan and I had a fun time splashing around the Hampton Inn swimming pool Friday night. (Their website claims that the pool is heated but it was pretty darn chilly to me! I suppose they turn off the heater during the summer.) We went to the Publix next door to grab a sub and some trash food - Pringles, tirmisu from the bakery... Mmmmm - while Jeremy went to his club meeting.

Saturday morning we headed to Lake Lanier. The tournament location was really nice. (Side note: Lake Lanier is ginormous. And, the water is really clean. Not like most of the Florida lakes I grew up on.) It had a beach area and a great playground. It's hard to find good playgrounds that are good for Rowan's size and this one was perfect. I can see us heading back there in the future.

Being there reminded of all the good times I spent with my family and friends on the water. Now, it's our turn to share the love of water with Rowan. Oh, boat fairy (and boat-cleaner fairy, boat-storage fairy... and house-cleaning fairy [why not?]) where are you?
