The weather was a little too windy so we didn't get to go to the playground like I had hoped. It was still fun, though. Rowan loved the singing and the birthday candles. He was not overly impressed with the cake. It was vanilla cake (heart shaped) with banana pudding for the icing. He did like mooshing the cake with his new spoon and then mooshing it some more with his plate. It was pretty funny... and gross.
Here are some updated Rowan stats:
- Weight: 20lbs, 15oz
Height: 29.75 inches
Likes: Cheese cubes; dancing; bath time; dogs; the uh-oh game - Dislikes: Real oatmeal (he likes the powdered baby cereal kind); wearing socks - he'll take them off every chance he gets; his crib (The way he hollers you would think we were putting him in a vat of hot lava.)
- Communication: He's getting so good at talking! In three days he learned three words. He said "bunny", "bear" (sounds like bee-ah), and can use "uh-oh" in the proper context. He can shake his head no and will let you know that he's ready for a nap by grabbing his rag and crawling over to you. It's really sweet. If only he would do that for bedtime. Tonight he said "baby" when he saw a baby on TV.
- Skills: He's not walking just yet but he's definitely thinking about it. He practices standing alone from a sitting position in the middle of the floor and by letting go of his prop. He can tickle his own feet and say "tiku, tiku, tiku". He will point to your shirt buttons when asked. He can "read", too. He flips through books (the proper way, mind you) and will point to different pictures and say "dat?, dat?"
I will post some more photos from his birthday party once I get copies from my mom. I also plan to start a new Rowan photo album for the coming year. Look for a new link on the right soon.
