Living it up in Orange Co.

This vacation has been one learning experience after another. Not only for Rowan but for me as well. In the past week, we've been on several outings. My parents took us for dinner to Mimi's Cafe in Winter Garden. (That place sure has changed a lot in the past 20 years. Apparently it is one of the up-and-coming Orlando suburbs. Who would have ever guessed that one?) This will probably shock you, but Rowan slept the whole time.

I've also been taking Rowan outside everyday. He seems to enjoy it, which is good. We plan to spend a lot of our free time outside: fishing, canoeing, hiking, biking. The other day I let him sit in the grass with me. I thought he might balk at the texture of the grass but he took a more analytical approach. I supported him in a standing position (He loves doing this. I think it makes him feel like a big kid. Of course, I could be making it all up.) so he could stand on the grass. When I sat him down, he started kicking his feet so he could feel the texture of the grass better. He's still a little perturbed by sunlight but we're working on it.

Yesterday, my mom and I took Rowan to Winter Park to window shop. After walking the Ave., we grabbed a refreshing beverage from Panera and headed to the park. I took Rowan out of the stroller so he could stretch his legs and have a snack. Amazingly, he stayed awake for almost 45 minutes. We even got to see and hear a freight train go by.

We're just going to hang around the house today. Perhaps tomorrow will bring one more adventure before we head back to the Peach State.
