Tell Tchaikovsky the news!

Raleigh can roll over all by herself! Last week she rolled over from her back to her tummy. As of Thursday night, she can roll over from back to tummy and then tummy to back. She can also stop on her side. Watch out, world! Raleigh is on the move.

New design

You've probably noticed that I changed things up a bit with the blog. It's still a work in progress so don't be surprised to see some more new stuff in the next couple of days. Leave a comment and let me know what you think about the changes.

Happy 28th Mirthday, Rowan!

We had a pretty busy day for Rowan's mirthday. His pal, Ansel, had a birthday party in the morning. He turned 3 years old. Very fun. Then we headed out to my parents' house for the Wilson family reunion and birthday celebration for my Dad. It was a fun-filled day and we were all pretty tired by the time we got back home last night.

Here are some of the clever and funny things that Rowan has been up to for the last month.

He has started making up his own words to familiar songs. He will personalize them to a situation. For example, instead of "Down, down, baby. Elmo does karate" he sings (all on his own) "Down, down, baby, Rowan goes to potty".

He has conversations for his little men. I overheard two of his Lego men having the following conversations:
  • "Do you want to go to Target?" "OK." "Ok, get in the buggy." Then he puts the men into his shopping cart.
  • One of his Lego men fell off the truck and then on to the floor. He took one of the other men down to the spot where the other man had fallen down and asked "Are you ok? I'll help you. Be careful, man!"
Rowan was talking with my mom about something, I can't remember what. She made a comment about it being really big and he said, "Yeah, it's huge."

Some of Rowan's favorite things right now are construction vehicles and tractors; chicken nuggets with BBQ dip; pretending it's his birthday and that he is 3 years old; and negotiating deals, particularly around bath and bed times.

Much love to our wonderful, funny, sweet, smart boy!

Happy 2-month birthday, Raleigh!

Wow! We've passed the 2-month marker with Raleigh. It's been crazy; it's been fun; it's been tiring. But, I think we are getting the hang of this two-child household gig.

Raleigh had her 2-month doctor visit this afternoon and everything looks great. Yay! Here are a few vitals and some other updates on her developmental progress.

  • Height: 23.75"
  • Weight: 12.0 lbs.
  • Disposition: Awesome! Raleigh is such a sweet baby. She is usually very easy to soothe and doesn't really get majorly upset. So far she has had any multiple hour crying jags like her brother. Keep your fingers crossed that she doesn't start now!
  • Skills: She can hold her head up for short periods of time and will try to move her head around a little bit. If she is on her tummy, she can raise up her head and shoulders for a few seconds. She likes to stand in your lap and will press against anything that touches her feet. She's also tracking moving objects with her eyes and head. She is also cooing a lot more and smiles often. (That's my favorite skill.)
  • Likes: Mostly everything. Some of her favorite things are sleeping on you and bath time.
  • Dislikes: She gets aggravated when her hands are immobilized by the swaddle or the car sear straps. She also does not care for cold milk. Oh yeah, the nose sucker is not her favorite thing either, but she doesn't stay upset once you're done.
Happy birthday, sweet angel. We love you very much!

Kiddo Updates

Raleigh is now 6 weeks old! That sure went by fast. Some of her accomplishments include sleeping for 5 hours in a row and holding her head up by herself. Yay, Raleigh!

Here are a couple more funny things that Rowan has said that I forgot to post last time.

Rowan purposely fell off his riding dump truck and asked my dad for help. My dad asked him if he should call someone and Rowan said, "Yeah. Four, five, six!"

The other night, Rowan was playing with his tool set. He stretched out the tape measure along the edge of the coffee table and proclaimed, "It's 8 o'clock!"
